PUBG Hits 3 Million Players on Xbox One

PUBG Hits 3 Million Players on Xbox One

Although PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still technically in early access on Xbox One, there’s no doubt that folks are anxiously awaiting its full release on the console, as it’s one of the most exciting Xbox One exclusives in 2018. As it so happens, it looks as if this anticipation has given way to a plethora of fans on the platform giving the Battle Royale title a go in its current state on the system, as Microsoft has announced today that PUBG has surpassed more than 3 million players on Xbox One.

This news comes courtesy of the Xbox Wire, with Microsoft mentioning that this particular milestone for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was achieved “through the end of 2017.” With this being the case, it means that the total number of 3 million players on the platform doesn’t account for the first 11 days of this year for PUBG being an Xbox Game Preview title.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was well on its a way to growing its user base to such a large size after its launch on Xbox One, despite the game releasing in a relatively poor state on the platform last year. As a matter of fact, PUBG managed to draw in a huge crowd with a player count of over 1 million within its first 48 hours of being available for Microsoft’s current generation console in “early access.”

Following its relatively buggy launch on Xbox One, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has received a handful of patches to refine the title for the system. For instance, one recent update provided a number of small improvements such as better optimization, crash reduction, improved performance, expanded sensitivity options, reduced weapon recoil, and a plethora of various bug fixes, while another added a First Person Perspective mode to the game.

All things considered, while the team behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds definitely deserves to revel in its success for reaching more than 3 million players on Xbox One, the celebration will be short-lived if Bluehole Studio doesn’t continue to think about the future. With a huge crop of competition like Fortnite‘s Battle Royale and Paladins: Champions of the Realm‘s Battlegrounds-styled mode clamoring for attention as well, PUBG will definitely need to earn its place as the premier title in the field going forward.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now for PC and on Xbox One through the Xbox Game Preview program.
