While hundreds of thousands of Nintendo fans around the world are opening their brand new Switch consoles, Xur the Agent of the Nine has returned to the world of Destiny bearing his own gifts. No, they may not be new consoles or a new Zelda, but Xur’s exotic armor pieces and weapon are sure to please some players who are still looking to fill out their collection.
This week, Destiny players can find Xur next to his old friend, The Speaker, in the Northern section of the Tower. To greet him, players need to head to the left after spawning in, following the long hallways down a few sets of stairs, and into the open, balcony area. There, Xur should be on the right hand side next to the big “door.”
Xur’s exotic armor selection this weekend includes An Insurmountable Skullfort, which is an exotic helmet for Titans; the ATS/8 Tarantella chest piece for Hunters; and the Voidfang Vestments chest piece for Warlocks.
All three are decent exotic pieces, depending on what subclass players like to run. The Tarantella is descent for those players that like to use Bladedancer in PvP, as it can help build super faster. While the Warlock chest piece’s additional solar grenade perk is hard to pass up. Of the three, the Titan helmet is probably the weakest, especially now that Bungie has nerfed the way health regeneration perks work.
On the exotic weapon side, Xur has the 4th Horseman exotic shotgun for sale, a fast-firing and devastating option for PvE players.
Obviously changes to the special ammo economy in the Crucible all but nix the 4th Horseman there, especially since it fires full auto and consumes ammo very quickly, but the weapon is extremely useful in PvE. If the Specialist modifier is on AND the Arc Burn modifier is on give the 4th Horseman a whirl. You will surprised how fast enemies and even strike bosses fall.
